With the sea at her doorstep, Kayla's work is largely influenced by water: the motion, the energy, and the sound all playing a large role what is translated to the finished piece.
Stories are told in overlapping layers, marks, and seams, creating a visual language that seeks to express a moment or memory suspended in time. King offers something in each of her pieces that are at once dynamic and still, yet generously resonant, suggesting qualities in the artist herself.
Kayla King is an abstract artist living and working in Arroyo Grande, California where she is beyond blessed to share a life with her husband, son, two dogs, and eight chickens. She can often be found creating work out in her backyard studio, tending to her garden, or having dance parties with her family. She loves to make things that make people smile.
